I just got back from checking out the Hawksley Workman show at the Commodore Ballroom tonight. Hawksley Workman is certainly one of Canada’s best artists with clever lyrics and a unique sound that morphs into something new and different with each new disc he releases. However as his sound develops he does not fail in bringing his fans along for the ride and certainly loses none.

So Friday night I had a wonderful time checking out Viva Voce’s amazing sound live at the Media Club. Opening for them were local Vancouver favourites Bella as well as Shapes & Sizes.
I’ve heard Viva Voce a few different times whilst exploring the depths of various husband & wife bands that were similar to No-Fi Soul Rebellion. You may have even seen a song or two of their’s featured on the sidebar of this blog. Well the recordings do them absolutely no justice live.

Meg Fowler – if you don’t know – is a singular person not a band (Unlike Five For Fighting which is a stagename for John Ondrasik and commonly mistaken as more than one). I just realized after typing in the title to this post that some of you might think that Meg Fowler is some new band I’m currently listening to. The folks at Moo launched their mini-card printing services which ties into Flickr. If you’re a Flickr Pro user you can get 10 of these for free. (First 10,000 users). I’ve already ordered some to see how they are. That’s 10 in total so if you use one of your Flickr photos it’ll give you 10 of that card or you can get 10 images and get 1 card each.
Even if you decide to order it’s still a great price for the amount of individually unique cards you can get. Imagine going to a printer asking for 100 different cards and find out how much that’ll cost you
Here’s the link.

Let me preface this with the fact that I’m a dog owner. Yesterday night I was reminded as to why I don’t like cats. I used to really hate cats. REALLY hate cats. I didn’t like how they seemed ARE so self-absorbed and pretentious (can cats be pretentious?). Yes definitely. Over the years I attempted to make peace with cats. I have numerous friends that own cats. I didn’t dislike their cats…nor did I find any reason to like their cats.
