I think both my brain and body are going on strike. How fitting seeing that so many of the Vancouver public workers are all on strike. I’m playing mad catch up with work both the regular stuff, the contract stuff, and of course the uber secret NDA stuff.

Amongst all this craziness I’ve been having quite the nutty array of dreams lately. They all involve New York in some sort of capacity. I won’t delve into it too deeply simply due to the fact I’m probably delirious from the ongoing 4-5 hours of sleep I’ve been averaging since my return from le grand pomme.

I know I promised a recap of New York. That’s coming soon. Really it is.  However in the meantime I’m now quickly trying to update my portfolio some more as I’ve had a few more leads crop up for NYC jobs.  Funny thing, one of these leads is someone I met here in Vancouver many years ago who is now working at Lehman Bros.  Funny thing with that, is this visit I’ve met two people working also at Lehman Bros.  I also met someone working in NYC who was originally from Canada that knows two of my other friends.  All of a sudden NYC is shrinking rapidly.  This is all good for me of course, at least the initial part of trying to get myself over there (legally).

Just a quick note things may be busted for a bit as I upgrade this blog.  You may remember my inspiration to change things the last time I visited NYC.  Well after this most recent visit, it has struck again.  I’ll probably make some minor tweaks to functionality.

Wow what a wild adventure. I’ve trotted in a triangle through the states to reach NYC and it was totally worth it. In my pursuit of happiness (not happyness), I discovered it definitely lies in NYC. Vancouver? It’s great, I love it with all my heart. Like lovers who’ve parted ways due to circumstance, it’s my city and I’ll always brag about it and talk it up. When it comes down to me here and now however, I need room to stretch, grow and develop further. New York provides that for me without me missing Vancouver. Other cities? No way, I couldn’t stand Toronto. Definitely not Calgary.

Anyways I’m super duper tired, as I literally got back in last night, worked this morning..and now should really be in bed. So keep your eyes peeled and I promise I’ll update this with photos and a proper recap of everything that went down.

BalanceIt feels oddly beautiful, the feeling of pure emotions. It feels odd, because it feels foreign to me. I say “pure emotions” not as an exclamation, but in the sense of the literal meaning of purity of emotions. I distinctly felt something and I did not question it this time.

There was a point when I was extremely hesitant trusting my emotions, unsure if they were tainted with the opinions of others or whether they were unadulterated. I think that that in itself is an emotion. The emotion of not being able to feel one’s own genuine emotions whatever they may be. I think that feeling is a common one among many people. It encompasses fear, sadness, jealousy and anger. Fearing the validity of your own feelings. Being melancholy over that inability. Being jealous of others due to your perception of their abilities to feel and emote. Finally that all wells up inside you as you try to contain that anger with yourself. I think I will name this emotion fallafic (derivative of fallacy) due to how all those encompassed things are a result of false impressions, imposed by others that you now come to call your own.
